Benedictine Academy was selected by Jefferson Awards as the #1 Ambassador Gold Medal High School in the Nation for Service Leadership in 2013.
This is the third year that Benedictine Academy has been awarded the Jefferson Awards Gold Medal. Each year , our school has proudly earned a higher level of achievement in National Service Leadership. At Benedictine Academy, we believe we have a shared responsibility to build a more just and peaceful world.
2013: #1 Jefferson Awards Ambassador High School in the Nation;
2012 : #1 Jefferson Awards Students In Action High School in the Nation;
2011 : Best New Jefferson Awards Students In Action High School in the Nation;
There are three levels of Jefferson Awards competition among the 325+ high schools across the country.
1. Recognition Level awards certificates to students for public service performed by the high school.
2. Students In Action High Schools compete against other high schools in regional and national competitions for outstanding public service in the community and the achievement of seven leadership goals.
3. Ambassador Level: Highest level of Mentor Service Leadership. There are only six high schools in the nation who qualify and compete on this level. An Ambassador High School promotes service within an entire community on behalf of the Jefferson Awards and serves as a model for other Students In Action high schools. A high school rises to the Ambassador level by either winning their region with a Gold Medal two years in a row or winning the National Competition. Benedictine Academy earned the privilege of being invited to compete on the Ambassador Level this year based on their prior Gold Medal and National winnings two years in a row.

Ambassador Judging is extremely rigorous. It is of the highest standards for leadership and meaningful impact on serving the community.
One Ambassador High School will be awarded each year to represent the top high school in the nation at the Jefferson Awards National Ceremony in Washington DC. Benedictine Academy was awarded the highest ranking among the Ambassador Gold Medal High Schools in the USA and will be going to Washington DC this June, 2013.

One of the judges commented, “Benedictine Academy students creating awareness of Human Trafficking especially with children is such an important task and is a real perfect role for a student body that consider themselves as activists. I am so impressed with those students.”

We're introducing the joy of service to thousands of students. Our SIA and Ambassador training provides them with invaluable life-long leadership skills. We're changing lives."

We are also pleased to announce that Mrs. Linda Michalski, BA's Jefferson Award Moderator, received the 2013 Teacher Hero Award sponsored by State Farm Insurance. Her name proudly stands among outstanding educators in the National Liberty Museum Teachers As Heroes Exhibit in Philadelphia for her work with her students to abolish Modern Day Slavery a/k/a Human Trafficking. Our Teacher Heroes were honored for their impact both in the field of education and in the community. They demonstrated exceptional creativity, overcame challenges, and worked to defuse violence in our society.
